The Toccoa Falls College athletic department is pleased to announce Ben Pigott as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country teams. Coach Pigott will replace Dale Garside who resigned last week in order to focus on his classes as a TFC professor.
Pigott is a native of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Parsippany Christian School in New Jersey. Though Pigott did not run competitively until he enrolled as a student at TFC, he was a soccer and basketball letterman in high school. As a TFC harrier, Pigott recorded a personal best time of 28:40 in the 8k race and was the Eagles top runner his junior and senior seasons.
“I would like to see TFC cross country become a stable program that brings in committed recruits every year,” said Coach Pigott as he shared his vision for the TFC cross country program. “I would also like TFC cross country to maintain its focus on bringing glory to God and acting as a family of Christian athletes.”
Athletic Director Jason Mehl expressed his confidence in Coach Pigott and said, “Ben was a great runner for us for four years. He knows what it takes to be prepared for each race and improve over the course of a season and a career. Our runners are already responding well to his leadership and I’m excited to see how they develop this year.”
Coach Pigott has exhausted his eligibility as a student-athlete and will graduate in December with a degree in philosophy. In his spare time, Coach Pigott enjoys watching and playing basketball as well as playing the drums. Coach Pigott attends First Alliance Church in Toccoa.
