Barnabas Groups

We were made by a communal God to live in community. Towards that end TFC offers students, staff and faculty the opportunity to gather together weekly in a small group settings known as Barnabas Groups. Barnabas Groups exist to strengthen community and foster the spiritual growth of TFCstudents, faculty and staff by providing high levels of support, encouragement, and accountability through close relationships between students, faculty and staff in a weekly context.

In addition to Chapel, Barnabas Groups provide an additional space on campus for people to experience the grace of God in a more intimate setting in order to encourage each other “to remain true to the Lord” just as Barnabas did for the believers in Antioch (Acts 11:23).  Through prayer, sharing, testimonies, confession, biblical discussion, interaction, and personal experiences, these groups focus on life transformation, value internalization and character development.

Barnabas Groups exist to generate space for reflection and processing while endeavoring to pursue the overall goal of spiritual formation throughout the year. These groups are flexible and organic as they chose the topics they discuss and structure their time together with an aim of creating a setting that is personal, relational and intentional.  Barnabas Groups seek to give our community a context for processing life issues and applying biblical principles through activities and discussions that impact beliefs, attitudes and behaviors.
