How much time can I expect to spend a week on classes?
Depending on the number of classes taken per semester will depend on how much time classes will take up. An average student will take 2 classes per session which will end up as 4 a semester. Each class is typically a 3 credit hour class, this means the expectation of work is 1 hour of in class work (taking quizzes, responding to discussions, etc) and 2 hours of out of class work (reading textbooks, writing papers, etc) per week in each course. This can vary some student to student depending on the speed at which you read or take quizzes.
How do I apply?
You will contact the admissions office to apply. There are links located on the website, as well as other contact information for admissions, such as emails and phone numbers.
What kind of technology will I use?
You will need internet access for your online classes. We do not require any webcam or other technology for the program but, some classes may ask you to record a video or audio of yourself for an assignment. Our digital classrooms are Mac and PC friendly.
Who helps me if I have a problem?
You can contact your advisor for any academic questions regarding classes and registration. If you have a question about something wrong in Course Pages, you may contact the Online Department. If you have a technical issue you may also contact firstname.lastname@example.org to email the IT staff for help.
What does an average class schedule look like?
Many students will take two courses every 8 weeks during the fall and spring semesters and then two in the summer semester. We consider that an average course load for students to take. You may choose to take classes to suit your needs such as, one class at a time and none in the summer. Your financial aid will depend on the number of courses you do take during a given time.
What happens when classes begin?
During the first few days of a semester there is a required “check-in” for all online classes. Many professors will have an activity such as an introduction forum or syllabus quiz for students to complete to see who is intending on taking the course. Failure to complete the activity could result in a student being dropped from a class.
How do I order books?
On myTFC there is a green and blue textbook icon on the left hand side. This will take you to the bookstore website where you can find all of the textbooks for your courses in the current and upcoming semester. There is also a link to the textbook website on our website under links for current students.
