Head Coach: Dr. Dale Garside
Dr. Dale C. Garside has been the head cross-country coach for the Eagles and Lady Eagles since 2007; he is now entering sixth season. As the college seeks to integrate Christian faith and learning, Dr. Garside seeks to integrate Christian faith and running; he likes to say he is training Christian athletes, not simply athletes.
As head coach, TFC’s men’s team was second at the NCCAA, Division 2 Nationals in 2010, the women’s team second in 2011. Both cross-country teams were NCCAA scholar teams (team GPA over 3.4) in 2011. Coach Garside comes with an extensive running background in cross-country and track at East Pennsboro High School (1965-68) as well as Shippensburg State University of Pennsylvania (1969-72).
He was an assistant cross-country coach at Asbury College in 1984. He has run six local marathons in Atlanta and Chicamauga as well as the 1972 Champlain Valley Marathon in Plattsburg, NY. He has been teaching French and Spanish at TFC since 1997, is married to Bev Muir Garside, and has two daughters, Rachel and Kelsey.
