Head Coach: Jason Mehl
This is Jason Mehl’s third season as the TFC Men’s Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. His teams have increased their win total each season he has coached. In 2012-13 the Eagles were 12-20. Last year they finished 13-17.
Mehl was Assistant Coach of the Men’s Basketball team for the 2010-11 season, while also working full time as Assistant Professor of English. He began teaching at TFC in the fall of 2009.
Prior to that, Coach Mehl and his wife Louise were missionaries in Uganda in East Africa, where he was the Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach at Uganda Christian University. He established the Athletic Department at UCU, which included starting a basketball team that competed in national and international university competitions as well as in the Uganda national basketball league (FUBA). Over the course of his five years, the UCU Men’s Basketball team won the East Africa University Games Championship (’06), the Championship of FUBA’s 3rd Division (’05) and 2nd Division (’06) and two 3rd Place finishes in FUBA’s 1st Division (’07, ’08). He was also an executive member of the Uganda Basketball Federation and served as the Assistant Coach of the Uganda Men’s National Basketball team (East and Central Africa Champions, 2005) and Head Coach of the Uganda Men’s University National Team.
Coach Mehl’s win/loss record in Uganda was 75-11. His career win/loss record is 100-48.
Coach Mehl graduated from TFC, where he played basketball from 1991-95. He was a team captain his last two seasons.
The Mehls live in Toccoa with their two children, Lily and Moses.
