What
is an ILL (interlibrary loan)?
A library services that allows our library to borrow books or articles from
other libraries. If Seby Jones Library does not have a book or article that you need,
you may be able to request an ILL.
What
can be requested through ILL? Books or journal articles. Sorry, no videos.
Who can request an ILL?
Anyone with a current
Seby Jones Library Card.
How much does it cost?
This service is free to Toccoa Falls College students, faculty, and staff.
Non-TFC patrons will be charged a nominal fee of $5.00 to help cover processing
costs.
How do I request an ILL?
By completing the interlibrary
loan request form online or by completing an ILL request form available at
the reference desk. Be prepared to provide the following information. For a Book - Title and Author (or editor). Other information is
helpful but not required. For an Article - Title of article, Author, Journal tile, Volume/issue,
Date of Publication, and Page numbers.
How
long does it take to get an ILL?
Usually within a week to 10 days depending on how quickly the lending
library processes the request and how far the book has to travel. Some items may
arrive within a few
days while others may take a couple weeks. The key is to request the item in
advance.
How long can I keep the item?
Usually 3-6 weeks depending on the policy of the lending library. In most cases you can submit a renewal request, which will allow you to keep
the book an additional 3-6 weeks. Articles are generally copied from the original periodical and do
not need to be returned.
How will I know when it arrives?
When
your book or article arrives, you will receive a phone call letting you know you
can come and pick
it up at the reference desk on the second floor of the library. If you want to track
your ILL, you can do so by
clicking on "Check
the status of your ILL." This will tell you if the item has been
shipped or if your request
is still waiting to be filled.
How can I contact the ILL librarian? If you have any other comments or questions please contact the ILL librarian
at extension 5364 or send an email to
interlibrary loan.
