
Eagles Win 2011 NCCAA National Championship!
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team won the NCCAA Division II National Championship by defeating Clearwater Christian College 3-0. The Eagles scored in the first, fourth, and sixth innings while holding CCC to a complete game shutout. Chris Sheridan had two hits and an rbi for the Eagles, Josh Ward had two hits, and Cris Jackson had a sacrifice fly.Cam Fulcher, pitching on one day’s rest, got the win for the Eagles striking out five and walking two batters. It was Fulcher’s second win of the tournament and earned him All Tournament Most Valuable Player. Chris Sheridan and Adam Reynolds were also named to the All Tournament Team and Coach Pollock was named National Coach of the Year. Fulcher also made First Team All American. This was the second time in three years that the Eagles have won the National Championship. In 2009, they defeated Southeastern University to earn the title.
Eagles Earn Spot in National Championship Game
The #1 seeded Toccoa Falls men’s baseball team earned a spot in the NCCAA National Championship game by defeating #7 seeded Dallas Christian College by the score of 10-1. The Eagles got on the board in the third inning scoring four runs, three of them coming from a bases clearing double off of the bat of Cam Fulcher. Then in the fourth inning the Eagles put the game away scoring five more runs, four of which came from a grand slam by Chris Sheridan. One more offensive highlight came in the sixth inning when Kyle Nelson homered in his first at bat of the tournament. Fulcher also got the win for the Eagles pitching five innings and only allowing one run, walking none, and striking out four. Nate Bowen pitched the final two innings. The Eagles will now wait until Saturday to take on either Clearwater, Ohio, or Dallas. The championship game will start at 11:00 a.m.
Eagles Win Second Game of the NCCAA National Tournament
The #1 seeded Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team continued to advance in the National Tournament by defeating #5 seed Clearwater Christian College by the score of 8-2. After five shutout innings the Eagles exploded in the top half of the sixth inning scoring all eight of their runs. The Eagles were led in the inning by doubles from Andrew Thorne and Corey Warner and then Adam Reynolds connected on a grand slam homerun for his second homerun of the tournament. Dylan Charles pitched seven strong innings allowing only one earned run and striking out six. The Eagles will play the winner of the Ohio Christian (#3 seed) and Dallas Christian (#7 seed) game at 7:00 tomorrow night.
Eagles Win First Game of NCCAA National Tournament
The #1 seeded Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team won their first round game of the National Tournament defeating Philadelphia Biblical University (#8 seed) by the score of 15-3. The Eagles led 1-0 after the first and then scored four in the second with Adam Reynolds leading the way with a three run homer. Reynolds also had a triple in the game. The Eagles put up three more runs in the third inning.Cam Fulcher homered for the Eagles in the seven run fourth inning. Micah Ellington got the win on the mound for the Eagles only giving up one earned run. The Eagles will play again tonight at 7:30 when they face Clearwater Christian College (#5 seed) for the seventh time this season.
Eagles Awarded #1 Seed at the NCCAA National Tournament
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team will be the #1 seed at the National Christian College Baseball Tournament next week. Even though the Eagles are an at-large team they still had the highest Burbridge rating which determines the seeding. Atlanta Christian (South Region Champion) will be the #2 seed and Clearwater Christian (another at-large from the South Region) will be #5 seed. The Eagles will play their first game of the Tournament on Wednesday May 11 at 10:00 a.m. against Philadelphia Biblical University.
Eagles Extend Win Streak to Eleven Games
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team extended its win streak to eleven games in a row with wins over Emmanuel College last night. The Eagles swept the doubleheader by the scores of 12-4 and 14-4. The win streak began on April 6th when the Eagles defeated Truett McConnell College 5-4. Since that time the Eagles have swept 5 doubleheaders in a row: Tennessee Temple University, South Region rival Atlanta Christian, Piedmont College JV, Lincoln Christian, and Emmanuel. During the streak the Eagles are averaging 10 runs a game and allowing only 3 runs a game. The Eagles will try to extend the win streak this weekend as they close out the regular season with a double header on Friday April 22 with Hiwassee College and a doubleheader Saturday April 23 with Tennessee Temple University.
Eagles Drop Double Header to Atlanta Christian College
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team lost a double header to South Region rival Atlanta Christian College on Friday by the scores of 1-4 and 3-6. The game scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to rain. The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday March 8 hosting a double header with Ohio Christian University beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Eagles Lose to Emmanuel College
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team played Emmanuel College in nine inning game losing by the score of 3-10. The Eagles again struggled at the plate but did get good relief pitching from Andrew Thorne striking out four in two innings. The Eagles travel to East Point, Ga this weekend to face South Region rival Atlanta Christian College. The Eagles will play a three game series with first game on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then a double header on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Eagles Drop Double Header to Covenant College
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team traveled to Lookout Mountain, GA to face Covenant College in a double header, losing both games by the scores of 1-3 and 2-4. The Eagles had good pitching on the day from Johnny Hodges, David Brown, Micah Ellington, Dylan Charles, and Nate Bowen but could not get anything going at the plate.
Eagles Lose Two in NCCAA Classic
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team lost two games in the first annual NCCAA Classic. The Eagles played North Greenville University and lost 2-6 and then played Emmanuel College and lost by the score of 5-6. The Eagles were down 6-0 and then rallied in the sixth with two runs and then added three more in the eighth. Brett Denney had a two run homer to lead the Eagles hitting.
Eagles Sweep Four Games From Grace College in Home Opener
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team swept Grace College in a four game series for the Eagles home opener. On Friday the Eagles won the double header with scores of 4-3 and 8-7. On Saturday, the Eagles again faced Grace College in a double header and and had shutouts in both games by the scores of 3-0 and 5-0. The winning pitchers for this series of games were Ryan Stephens, Andrew Thorne, Cam Fulcher, and Johnny Hodges. Brett Denney led the Eagle hitting attack for the series with four hits and six rbi’s.
Eagles Baseball Opens Season Winning Two of Three Games From Southern Wesleyan
The Toccoa Falls College men’s baseball team opened its season against Southern Wesleyan University. After losing the first game by the score of 2-16, the Eagles responded with two wins by the scores of 6-5 and 6-5 (nine innings). The winning pitchers for the two games were Cam Fulcher and Andrew Thorne. Tyler Sellars went 5 for 8 for the two games with three RBI’s .
