Toccoa Falls College Students and Professor Perform at Carnegie Hall

Twenty Toccoa Falls College students recently sang in a combined choir performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert was conducted by Dr. Tom Council, Director of the TFC School of Music. The April 26 performance marked his fifth conducting appearance at Carnegie Hall. The combined choir totaled 300 singers, representing 11 different Christian schools from across the nation. The event was sponsored by Field Studies International of New York City.

The varied sacred choral repertoire in the program included Beethoven’s Hallelujah (from the Mt. of Olives), Hassler’s Agnus Dei, and Moses Hogan’s My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord. The performance was well received and moved the audience to a standing ovation at two different times. Dr. Council and the choir have now been invited to perform at the Southwark Cathedral in London on New Year’s Day of 2010. Plans are already underway for a future performance at Carnegie Hall.
