On Thursday, May 12, Toccoa Falls College President Dr. Wayne Gardner and his wife Donna were honored at an afternoon reception. Later that evening, family, friends, and invited guests gathered for a dinner at Gate Cottage to pay tribute to his life of service at TFC and to the Toccoa community. Dr. Gardner announced his retirement last year as the college’s sixth president. At the end of June, he will become President Emeritus.
Dr. Gardner graduated from Toccoa Falls in 1969. He was elected President of the college’s Alumni Association in 1977. Six years later, he accepted the position of Director for Alumni and College Relations. Then in 1988, he was appointed Vice President of Institutional Advancement. In 1998, he received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the college. And in 2001, he was appointed Executive Vice President. The college’s Board of Trustees elected him President in 2004.
His life is one that is outlined by service to others. He has spent over 42 years in Christian ministry working tirelessly with organizations like World Vision and the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
