Scripture for the Day: Romans 10
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).
We all are in a race, the Christian race. Upon salvation, we are adopted into the family of God and made able to run this race. Hebrews brings up sins and weight that ensnare and weigh us down. These can include gossip, anger, drugs, sexual sins, etc… and as we dwell in these sins we begin to feel the weight from them. They slow down our pace in the race and make us want to give in and not have that endurance.
The amazing thing to see is the next verse. When we look to Jesus, no one else, who had joy to endure the cross and despise the shame, we can lay down those weights because of the blood that was shed. The verse does not end at that, it continues. It states that Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God and is ALIVE!!! No other religion can give you that promise. During this Easter season look into your life and see the weights you are carrying and lay them down at the cross and hold to the promise that our SAVIOR IS RISEN!!!

Thank you for enduring the cross and shame for me. I want to lay down the weight of my sin. I do not want to give in to my flesh. I want to look to you for strength. I am glad you are my risen Savior!
