Scripture for The Day: Romans 4
Hebrews 2 talks about Jesus in his humanity. Last year, verse 11 stuck out to me: “Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.” Jesus is not ashamed to call me his family, to call us brothers and sisters. How amazing is this?! To God, we are family. We are as close as brothers and sisters, sharing in His inheritance. God has taken amazing steps to save us from our sins and to present us before His glorious presence—without fault! All of this is accomplished and gained through the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” Christ reunited us with the Father through His sacrifice. What He accomplished at Easter settled our account with God and reunited the family. Although we were far away, dirty, and undeserving, He adopted us and brought us in. There is no shame in entering this family and starting a new life with Christ. Remember today that Christ died for our debt against God so we may be counted as a member of the family.

Thank you for bringing me into your family through the cross. But even more thank you for bringing me back to the Father through your blood. Thank you for making me debt free! Amen.
