Dr. Gardner joined the Toccoa Falls College faculty in 1987. Before coming to TFC, she taught elementary students in public education for eleven and one-half years. The last twenty-four years of her life have been spent teaching college-age students. She says that teaching has been the fulfillment of a calling on her life.

Dr. Gardner is currently a member of the National Council of Teachers of English. She has published, contributed to, and edited many works from the Salem Press, Toccoa Falls College, and others. She has attended and presented at many education conferences here and abroad and continues to be an advocate for education. “Two favorite passages of mine are Psalm 23 and John 10 where Jesus is described as a Good Shepherd. Good shepherds like good teachers know their sheep/students and they invest their lives in them. Following the Good Shepherd’s lead, I too, want to invest my life in the lives of my students. I enjoy teaching at Toccoa Falls College because it gives me that opportunity.”

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” ( John 10:14)
