Written by

Dr. Ken Gassiot has been chosen to fill the role of Vice President for Student Development. He joins the Toccoa Falls College staff with over fourteen years of higher education experience, accumulated from four different institutions. He has worked in the areas of Housing and Residence Life, Student Conduct, Parent and Family Relations at Texas A&M University, the University of Florida, and Texas Tech University.  He was most recently the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Dr. Gassiot has a Ph.D. in Higher Education Research, a Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management; all  from Texas Tech University. He has held elected and appointed leadership positions within regional and national higher education professional associations.

Dr. Ken Gassiot enjoys being available for students and believes working with faculty and staff are critical elements in a successful student experience.  He was drawn to Toccoa Falls College because of the smaller, more intimate campus environment because it provides an opportunity for him to help shape the campus experience for students and be a part of an exciting and growing community.  As the new Vice President of Student Development, Dr. Gassiot hopes to work with the campus and the local Toccoa community to make a positive  impact on the lives of students, in and outside of the classroom.  He feels a strong campus experience coupled with an investment in local/regional offerings help students to find a home at TFC and persist until graduation.

Dr. Gassiot says, “I feel like student development is an area that provides our team a large ability to impact students and shape their experience in a way that gives them long term success.  Students who are emotionally, physically, and academically well, generally take ownership of their surroundings and desire excellence.  At TFC, we give them that.”

He and his wife, Kim, have four children: Jonah, Sydney, Ian, and Ainsley.
