The TFC Lady Eagles hit the road on November 8-9 for games against Welch College and Georgia Northwestern Tech. Both games were played at Welch College in Nashville, Tennessee. TFC entered the weekend with a loss in the first game of the season; a 76-47 defeat at Bob Jones University in which TFC was within 8 points with 8:38 remaining before BJU blew the game open. In Nashville, the Lady Eagles fell 53-47 to Welch College on Friday but rebounded on Saturday to top Georgia Northwestern 78-63 for its first victory of the season.
Despite poor shooting in the game with Welch, the Lady Eagles held a three point lead with three minutes remaining in the second half. TFC was unable to seal the victory as Welch nailed a three pointer and converted a three point play on its way to the 6 point win. Kim Crapse led the Lady Eagles with 12 and Beth Brown contributed 9 in the loss.
After a disappointing loss the night before, the Lady Eagles were asked to rebound on Saturday against Georgia Northwestern in front of a dull atmosphere at the neutral gym. TFC answered the challenges by outscoring Georgia Northwestern 37-26 in the second half to earn its first win of the season, 78-63. Katie Calloway scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Kim Crapse added 16 points, and Jeanelle Arnold contributed 13 points and 5 assists.
The Lady Eagles’ home opener will be played on November 15 at 5:00 PM against region opponents Piedmont International University.
