The Toccoa Falls College Eagles traveled to Clearwater, Florida, on Friday night to face region rivals Clearwater Christian College for the second time in a week’s span. The Cougars topped the Eagles last Friday 3-0 in Toccoa, powered by two goals from the Cougars in the first 10 minutes of the match. In Friday’s contest, it was the Eagles who quickly jumped to a lead. Unlike the Cougars in their previous match, TFC was unable to hold their advantage and fell 3-2 in the end.
TFC’s Sully Adams and Michael Bailey each scored goals within the first 6 minutes of the game to give the Eagles a quick 2-0 margin. Adams scored from a corner kick while Bailey netted his goal via a through ball from the midfield. The Cougars would get on the scoreboard midway through the first period off a quick restart from a foul 25 yards from the Eagles net. TFC would carry the 2-1 lead into the intermission.
The 2-1 scoreline was equalized by the Cougars less than a minute after the restart. CCC tied the game at 2-2 following a loose ball scrum in the TFC box. Clearwater buried the game winner 15 minutes from end time to complete the comeback and take the match 3-2.
The Eagles will continue their Florida road trip on Saturday in Jacksonville as they face the Trinity Baptist College Eagles. TFC’s final home match of the season and Senior Night will be played on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 PM.
