The Toccoa Falls College volleyball team participated in a tri-match on October 5 against Johnson University (FL) and hosts Trinity Baptist College. The Lady Eagles swept both region foes and defeated Johnson 3-2; 18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-12, and 15-8. With the wins, TFC improves to 5-2 on the year when facing NCCAA Division II south opponents.
TFC rallied to defeat Johnson University of Florida (formerly Florida Christian College) in five sets after dropping the opening set 18-25. TFC would even the match at one game apiece by taking the second set 25-19 but would face defeat after dropping the third set 22-25. The Lady Eagles dominated the fourth set 25-12 to force a deciding fifth game. TFC carried the momentum into the final set and took the fifth set 15-8 to win the match 3-2.
In the win, TFC accumulated 17 service aces, 79 digs, 48 kills, and 43 assists. Sarah Schaeffer led the team with four services and 23 assists. Schaeffer also tallied 8 kills with zero errors. Rachel Morris and Courtney Bechtold led the defensive effort with 24 and 23 digs, respectively. Bechtold was also a major influence on the attack as she led the team with 10 kills from her outside hitter position. Britney Eitutis contributed 9 kills, and Kim Crapse added 8 kills. Setter Hadley Harris tallied 15 assists in her own right.
TFC will host Catawba Valley on Tuesday at 5:30 PM. The Lady Eagles’ homecoming match will be played at 2:30 PM on Saturday against region opponent Piedmont International University.
