Jon Kerr Receives Professional Leadership Award

Mr. Jon Kerr was awarded the Professional Leadership Award at the Georgia College Counseling Association (GCCA) Conference held January 25-28, 2011. This is an award that is peer nominated and all candidates must go through a screening process. He received this award for his contributions in his demonstration of leadership to GCCA over the past 10 years. While it was a surprise, Kerr said, “It was an honor to know that in the eyes of my peers I am seen as a leader.”

Mr. Kerr is now serving as president of the Georgia College Counseling Association. His main responsibilities are to provide direction and organization for the association. The GCCA is the state chapter that has been in existence the longest. Kerr says that, “It is quite an honor to be president of an organization with such a noteworthy history.”

Kerr serves as director of Counseling and Career Services for Toccoa Falls College where he has been on staff for eleven years. His responsibilities include counseling and assisting students in their search of career opportunities. He also gives presentations in senior seminar courses and provides students with resources for career seeking. Kerr received his bachelor’s in broadcasting from John Brown University in Arkansas and his master’s in counseling from Georgia State University. He previously worked in public mental health.
