The top ranked TFC baseball team will face #3 Dallas Christian College (27-38) on Saturday, May 11 at 12:00 PM in the national championship game of NCCAA Division II. The Eagles (31 – 15) have advanced through the winner’s brackets with wins over Cairn University (11-0), Clearwater Christian (16-2), and Dallas Christian (4-0). The Dallas Christian Crusaders have defeated Ohio Christian (4-1) and Florida Christian (4-0 and 3-1) to go with their 4-0 defeat to TFC. Because the format of the World Series is double-elimination, meaning a team must lose twice before they are eliminated, Dallas Christian must defeat Toccoa Falls twice in order to prevent TFC from their third consecutive national championship.
Dallas Christian is lead by NCCAA Player of the Year, Kale McQuillen. McQuillen hit .0417 during the regular season with 25 doubles, three home runs, and 41 runs batted in. Senior catcher Jonathan Perea and utility man Justin Browning also earned All-American honors for the Crusaders.
Eagles third baseman Corey Warner leads all hitters at the national tournament with a 0.714 batting average. Warner and Ronnie Stewart both have a tournament slugging percentages of 1.000%. Dylan Charles, Corey Warner, Zack Warner, Josh Ward, and Key each earned All-American honors for TFC.
Should TFC drop the noon game to Dallas Christian, the winner-take-all championship game will be at 3:00, if needed. All of today’s action will be played at Prasco Park Stadium. For live scoring, online streaming, and Twitter updates to today’s action, use the links below.
