TFC’s baseball team traveled to Clearwater Christian College for a doubleheader on March 7. Propelled by no hitter from TFC’s Dylan Charles, the Eagles took both games of the double header, winning 5-0 and 10-5.
In the first game at CCC, TFC’s Dylan Charles threw his second collegiate no hitter and first complete game shut out. Charles silenced the Cougars bats, and threw 7 innings with 6 strikeouts, a walk, no runs, and no hits allowed. Offensively, Jonah Crenshaw went 2-3 with a triple, a run batted in, and a run scored. Adam Reynolds went 1-3 with two RBI’s in the 5-0 win.
TFC won the second game against Clearwater, 10 – 5 in extra innings. Leading 4-2 in the final inning, TFC allowed Clearwater to tie the game at 4-4. With one out in the bottom of the 7th inning, Clearwater had the winning run at third base and attempted a suicide squeeze. The Eagles executed a perfectly timed pitch-out, and sent the game into extra innings by tagging the would-be winning run. In the top of the 8th inning the Eagles plated five runs and won, 10-5. Micah Ellington started the game on the mound for the Eagles, and threw 6 solid innings with four strikeouts, and two earned runs allowed. Jacob Martin pitched the last two innings in relief and earned the win for the Eagles. At the plate TFC’s Josh Ward, Corey Warner, and Zack Warner had three hits apiece. Will Patrick and Jordan Couillard both drove in two runs for the Eagles.
The Eagles will host Reinhardt College on Wednesday, March 13 for a doubleheader starting at 1:00.
