Brian Shelton Named Vice President of Academic Affairs at Toccoa Falls College

Dr. Brian Shelton has been named vice president for Academic Affairs of Toccoa Falls College. He was formerly the dean of the School of Christian Ministries. Dr. Shelton received his B.A. in biology from Asbury College, his M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. in historical theology from Saint Louis University.

He is a native of Virginia and grew up in southeastern Kentucky. He spent ten years in biology research and then two years in youth ministry before coming to TFC. Dr. Shelton is a member of both the Council for Christian Colleges and University’s Leadership Development Institute and Georgia’s Governor Teaching Fellowship Symposium. He is also an active member at the Clarkesville United Methodist Church. He also is the author of Martyrdom from Exegesis in Hippolytus: An Early Church Presbyter’s Commentary on Daniel (Paternoster, 2008).

Dr. Shelton joined the TFC faculty in 2001 as an associate professor of Theology. He further became the associate vice president for Academic Affairs in 2007, dean of the School of Christian Ministries in 2008, and is now in his tenth year at TFC. Dr. Shelton and his wife Sally, of 18 years, have three daughters: Annie (age 15), Katie (age 11), and Maggie (age 4).
