TFC’s Bethany Slate has been selected as the NCCAA’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Slate, a senior from Toccoa, Georgia, is an Early Childhood Education major. She received the award for her performances in matches from October 22-29. In her final 20 sets as a TFC student-athlete, Slate totaled 97 kills and 119 digs, 6.5 blocks, and three aces.
Slate’s best performance of the week was against NCAA Division II, Clark-Atlanta University. In the 1-3 defeat, Slate accumulated 26 kills and 31 digs. Slate has been named to the south region’s first team all four years of her career. She is also a three time All-American, and hopes to be announced as a 2012 All-American next week at the national tournament. Slate is the first student-athlete in TFC’s history to be selected to three, first team All-American teams.
