TFC’s volleyball team traveled to LaGrange College on Wednesday for their third match in three days. The visiting Lady Eagles left the NCAA Division III school with a 3-0 loss.
TFC entered the match having won three of their last four matches, but had begun to feel the pain of playing three games in successive days. TFC fell behind in the first set after a 12-0 run by LaGrange, and dropped the first game, 9-25. The Lady Eagles attempted to regroup in the second set, and held a 16-13 lead. However, the Lady Eagles were unable to sustain the Panthers’ rally, and dropped the second set, 23-25. Down 0-2 and facing defeat, the Lady Eagles dropped the third set, 10-25.
The Lady Eagles totaled 44 digs on the night, and were led by Bethany Slates’ 10 digs. Rachel Morris and Courtney Bechtold each added 9, and Sarah Schaeffer contributed 7 digs. Hannah Cleek and Bechtold lead the Lady Eagles’ attack and combined for 11 kills in the match.
The Homecoming match will be Saturday when the Lady Eagles host region opponent Piedmont International University for a 2:00 match.
