TFC’s women soccer team hosted the nation’s #1 ranked, undefeated Clearwater Christian on October 5. The Lady Eagles were able to stay competitive throughout the first half, but were unable to put together a complete match, and lost 5-0.
Clearwater jumped to an early 1-0 lead when Kelsey Redemann finished from a close range off a cross. Redemann’s goal in the third minute was the lone goal in the first half. Though TFC was unable to generate many shots on goal in the half, the Lady Eagles did string several good passes together, and played almost even with the nation’s top team.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles were unable to stop the Clearwater attack. Clearwater extended their lead three minutes into the half with Redemann’s second goal of the day. Three more second half goals, including one from the penalty spot, increased the lead to 5-0. The game would end with that score, though the Lady Eagles played their most competitive game against Clearwater this season. In the match, TFC was outshot 6-14.
The Lady Eagles next home game will be on Homecoming, October 13 at 1:00 pm as they host region opponents Florida Christian College.
