The Hayride on Saturday was loads of fun!  There were all kinds of fun things to do that night.  Besides the hayride itself, there were hotdogs and marshmallows to roast over small campfires, live music, mud-wrestling, a barrel bull to ride, and door prizes.  All during last week in the Student Center, there were jars in which you could put money to determine which professor had to kiss the “mystery animal.”  This year, the “winner” was Mr. B, the resident director over Forrest Dorm, who had to kiss… well, actually, I can’t remember.  I think it was a mussel of some kind, but I forgot.

Last Friday, the freshman class had Student Government elections.  I won’t lie—I was really nervous about the outcome.  I REALLY wanted to win, but one of the other girls has had much more experience in student council than I have had, and the other girl is much more outgoing than I am.  Throughout the weekend, we candidates were anxious to hear the results.  Finally, on Sunday night around 10:30, my friend Neek Neek, who was running for SGA Representative, came up to my floor and told me that she had just found out that she was elected.  A few minutes later, I found out that I had been elected as Freshman Female Social Rep!!  Within in the next few minutes, we knew all of the results.  All four girls from Fant who were running won their positions, so our halls were buzzing with excitement.  Even a sophomore girl on first floor found out that she was elected SGA Rep. for the sophomore class.

This week, I have been trying to regain my focus of why I’m here.  I have become quite exhausted while trying to find a balance between my schoolwork and my social life.  So this week, I have had to say no to a lot of my normal weekly activities.  Last night, I decided not to go to Burger Night because I had a paper due today. Plus, I really needed some time to talk with Mandi, who has become my accountability partner.  I have also spent a lot of time in the library this week.  I reserved my own carrel on the second floor, which is the quiet study area, so I have a place all to myself to work.  I didn’t realize how difficult it was to concentrate in my own room until I experienced myself being totally focused in the library.  I know keeping my focus for the rest of the year will be difficult, but I think I’m up to the challenge now.

In Him,

Molly
