This week has been so eventful!

It all started last Friday with the freshman class Student Government Association nominations.  I’ve known for a couple of months now that I wanted to run for Female Social Representative, so I was really looking forward to Friday; I just wasn’t sure how things were going to go as far as actually getting on the ballot.  At nominations, which were held during freshman chapel, we had to stand to nominate people for the different SGA positions.  Up to five people could have been nominated for each position, but only three could make it on the ballot.  There were only a few categories that need primary elections, and, fortunately, mine wasn’t one of them; I was nominated along with two other girls.

Later that day, I went home.  I actually left the school a lot earlier than I thought, so I was able to beat rush hour traffic.  The weekend went pretty well.  I can’t say it felt amazing to be home; in fact, it was kind of weird.  I think that when you are gone for five weeks, you just feel like everything back home should stay exactly the way it was when you left, but it doesn’t.  Life just keeps moving along for your friends and family.  It was hard to find time to see my best friend Robin.  We ended up only getting to hang out after church on Sunday afternoon before I came back to school.  Besides that, though, the weekend was very relaxing.  I don’t think I will be going back until fall break, so it was nice to have this change in my routine.

This week was tagging week for the hayride, which is Saturday.  Starting midnight on Sunday night, girls tagged guys who then had to wear whatever costume the girls made them wear.  There were all kinds of creative costumes.  We had Superman, Batman, Quailman, the Seven Dwarfs, Cupid, Jack Sparrow, what seemed like hundreds of Zorros and cowboys, the Three Little Pigs, and a box of take-out Chinese food, just to name a few.  I didn’t tag anyone, but my friends and I have already planned out our strategies for next year.

Speaking of strategies, this week was also the week for Spy Games.  I’m still not entirely sure what the point of the game is, or how, when, and if there is a winner, but I DID play.  All I know about it is that I paid $2, received a small water pistol and a picture of my first “victim,” was told the rules, and set out for my first kill.  I “killed” him on Monday afternoon a lot easier than I thought I would.  On Tuesday night, I staked out for my next kill, a girl on the second floor of my dorm (Fant).  Sure enough, after about three hours of waiting for her to show up, I was killed.  I never saw it coming.  But, oh well; there’s always next year.

Monday night was Fant Open Dorm.  It was a night when we got to have the guys over for a couple of hours.  My hall, which is the 3rd floor of Fant, dressed in black and white, and most rooms had food for everyone who showed up.  I’ll admit: it was incredibly awkward at first having the guys up there.  But after awhile, everyone seemed to be having a pretty good time.  Before too long, the hall became really crowded, so a friend and I went for a walk.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend.  With the hayride on Saturday, it’s bound to be loads of fun. I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes in my next entry.

 In Christ,

Molly
