Toccoa Falls College was invaded this week… by ladybugs.  I think it was because our weather has been so varying lately.  It was pretty chilly, then it warmed up to about 75, and now it’s cold.  Anyway, ladybugs are everywhere!  I heard that my hall was the hardest hit, with each of our ceilings covered with at least 50 ladybugs a day, but my room somehow managed to avoid those extremes.  The most that Bonnie and I counted on our ceiling at one time was about 10.

Because the two weeks prior to this week had been so rough, Mandi and I decided on Saturday to spontaneously go to my house to spend the night.  We both needed to get away, and we had such a relaxing time.  My mom cooked so pretty amazing stuff for us; we got to drive around and window shop at the new ritzy mall in Snellville and, on Sunday, we threw a bunch of blankets on the floor in the family room and watched a movie before taking a nap.  That night was just what I needed to keep me going until Thanksgiving.

Before we left to come back to TFC on Sunday night, though, my dad broke some pretty tough news to me.  My parents have decided that they won’t be able to help me make my monthly payments for my FACTS payment plan past December.  Dad told me that if I didn’t get a job within the next couple of weeks, I wouldn’t be able to return in the spring.  He wasn’t saying it to be harsh because he knows that I’ve tried really hard to get one (I’ve applied at 5 different places).  The reason I’m writing about all of this is because on Monday, the very next day after our conversation, I got a job with America Reads.  It’s a program where college kids go to the local elementary schools to help tutor kids.  My first day was Thursday.  It went so well!  I’m working part of my hours in a kindergarten classroom and another part in a fifth grade classroom.  I really feel blessed that the Lord opened this opportunity up for me!

SGA is going well, too.  Along with our freshman council meetings, I’ve been attending meetings for the other social reps, since we’re the ones planning the Christmas Banquet.  Without telling too much, our plans are really coming together.  I was put in charge of designing a pretty important part of the event.  At first I was thinking I had bitten off more than I could chew, but after meeting with the executive social representative, I’m really excited about being able to put my creativity to the test.  I’ll let you know how things come together and I’ll definitely put pictures up of the evening (December 2).

 Until next week,

Molly
