General Information
The awards that appear on the Award Letter are for full-time
attendance (12 credit hours per semester). If you are less than
full-time, some of your awards may be reduced and/or cancelled. Contact
your Admissions Counselor or the Office of Financial Aid if you have
questions.
Federal Work-Study Awards
Please keep in mind that even though you may have been awarded
Federal Work-Study, this is just an indication of your eligibility and
it is your responsibility to secure a job on-campus. You can check on
availability and qualifications via the "Student Employment"
link: TFC Student Employment
.
Students that are awarded federal work-study cannot use these funds
to reconcile their student account since wages are paid directly to
students.
Federal Stafford Loan Borrowers
The loan amount on your award letter shows the maximum amount of
loan eligibility for the Stafford Loan. You may not need this amount to
satisfy your financial obligation to the college. You are strongly
encouraged to borrow only what you need. Loan borrowers may be charged
a guarantee and/or an origination fee of up to 4% of the loan. For
instance, if you borrow a $2,000 loan, you may only receive $1,920
($2,000 minus the 4% fees).
First-time Stafford Loan borrowers at TFC will need to complete
additional paperwork to borrow under the Stafford Loan program (please
see Award Letter concerning this). Choosing a lender is an important
part of the loan application process. Please access our "Preferred
Lender List" link at TFC Lender List
to
assist you in this process.
Federal PLUS (Parent) Loan Borrowers
For parents who choose to borrow a loan for their dependent child,
the amount on the award letter shows the maximum amount of loan
eligibility for the PLUS Loan. You may not need this amount to satisfy
your financial obligation to the college. You are strongly encouraged
to borrow only what you need. Loan borrowers may be charged a guarantee
and/or an origination fee of up to 4% of the loan. For instance, if you
borrow a $2,000 loan, you may only receive $1,920 ($2,000 minus the 4%
fees).
PLUS Loan borrowers will need to complete additional paperwork
including a credit check to borrow under the PLUS Loan program (please
see Award Letter concerning this). Choosing a lender is an important
part of the loan application process. Please access our "Preferred
Lender List" link at TFC Lender List
to
assist you in this process.
Endowed and Funded Scholarship Recipients
Your Award Letter is notification that you have received an Endowed
and/or a Funded Scholarship. If you have received either of these, you
will need to complete additional paperwork (please see the Award Letter
concerning this).
