Sunday School Teacher
Junior

"Studying at TFC to prepare for full time ministry is great,
but ministry doesn't start after graduation. Working with a middle
school aged small group gives me an opportunity to teach the word,
share the love of Christ, and apply what we talk about in the
class room. It has been a wonderful experience for me to build
relationships that are centered on Christ with the guys in my
small group and their families."

EVALUATIONS
The office sends each student a Self-Evaluation form and a
Mentor Evaluation form at mid-semester. Students must fill out the
Self Evaluation form and return it to the office, and give the
Mentor Evaluation form to their Mentor and have that person
return it to the office. Both evaluation forms are due in the office by
the specified date.
SELF-REFLECTION PAPER
A two page self-reflection
paper is now required for the completion of a ministry. The paper
explains how you were used in your ministry and how God stretched you in
this ministry during the semester.
GRADING
The grading scale is A, B, C, D or F. The office bases the
grade on attendance, the reflection paper, timeliness of returning Self
and Mentor Evaluation forms, and the rating of the mentor. The office
assigns points to each of the four categories. Student’s can earn a
maximum of five points for each category. The four categories are
totaled and the office determines the final grade as follows:
1. Attendances
5 = All
attendances required are in and in on time
3 = short two
hours of the 22 hours or attends in late
0 = Less than
20 hours completed or reported
2. Student Evaluation forms
5 =
Mentor and Self Evaluation forms in and in on time
4 = Both
forms in, but Mentor is late
3 = Both
forms in, but Self is late
3 = Both
forms in, and both are late
2 = Self
Evaluation form in but late, no Mentor form
0 = No Self
evaluation form turned in
3. Rating by Mentor
This
grade is based on the response of the Mentor evaluation form and
according to a 5 point
scale.
4. Reflection paper
5 = Paper in on time
3 = Paper late
0 = No paper turned in
*Failing to turn in one of the four assignments will result in a failing
grade.*
Calculating the grade
For those few ministries which do not have attendance requirements,
only evaluation forms and reflection paper will be used to calculate
grade. Add the scores and use the following scale.
With Attendances
Without Attendances
20, 19 A 15, 14 A
18, 17 B 13, 12 B
16 C 11 C
15 D 10 D
14 F 9 F
The Registrar’s Office records the grades on the
permanent transcripts.
Please note: All assignments (attendances (on
line), evaluations and reflection paper) are all due into the office no
later than 5:00 pm on there assigned due dates.
UNSATISFACTORY STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRESS
Students that have more ministries to complete than the remaining
number of semesters have “fallen behind.” Students that fall behind by
two or more ministries may be subject to disciplinary action. They will
meet with the Director of Student Ministry, the Vice President for
Spiritual Formation, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
These officers may choose to restrict the student’s participation in
leadership positions, intercollegiate athletics, and touring groups
until the students make up all outstanding student ministry credits. The
college reserves the right to suspend students that still choose not to
participate in a student ministry.
