Preparation
The School of World Missions exists for one purpose - to prepare men
and women to effectively communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ to
people of other cultures.
Cross-cultural communication is a required skill in the 21st
century. Communication is no longer a matter of trial and error,
preparation is paramount. To a great extent the success of the
cross-cultural communicator is based on skills which can be learned,
practiced and perfected.
The School of World Missions integrates two sets of knowledge and
skills: missions and anthropology. These are taught with a strong
Biblical and theological foundation by professors who are academically
qualified and have served effectively as missionaries. We believe that
cross-cultural witnesses need anthropology to understand the way the
world is, theology to have a vision of what the world should be, and
missiology to plan effective strategies for achieving God's vision
In addition, each student gains practical experience by spending at
least one summer in a cross-cultural field internship, performing Christian service in
a short-term missions project.
