Will general education courses at TFC
transfer to other schools?
Yes. We are fully accredited, and our credits are
accepted by all major colleges and universities, whether public
or private, Christian or secular.

2. |
Does everyone get an A.A.?
No. Most students go straight through the four years for the Bachelor's
degree. But the A.A. is available for anyone who only wants a two-year,
junior college-level degree, or who wants to lay a foundation at a Christian
college before transferring to a larger university to complete a more
specialized degree that TFC does not offer.

What is the English Major good for besides teaching English?
The BA in English is a very popular degree with Seminary and Law
School admissions counselors. It is also an excellent general preparation
for a career in Christian writing. With Greek to fulfill the language
requirement and a Missions minor, it would be excellent training for future
Bible translators.

What if I want to teach English in the public
schools?
The School of Teacher Education offers a Secondary Education major with an
English concentration that gives attention to the art of teaching as well as
English itself, and leads to state certification. The School of Arts and
Sciences provides the English component of that program. |

I want to write either for magazines,
promotional literature, books, newspapers, etc. Should I major in
English or Mass Communications?
You should plan to major in one and minor in the other. By the time
you have to commit to a major (toward the end of your sophomore year) it
will be clear to you which path you should follow. |

What is the difference between the English
degree at a Bible College versus a public college or university?
The university may offer a bewildering smorgasbord of course options
while ours is more focused on major periods and authors. Also, English
departments at many public colleges and universities have bought into a
relativist stance which is fiercely anti-biblical . We
still believe that language has meaning and can communicate truth and
beauty. |

7. |
What can I do with an English major?
The BA in English is the preferred major for those planning to go on
for graduate work and eventually teach English on the college level. (Those
who wish to teach English on the high-school level should take the Secondary
Education major with an English concentration.) English is also considered
an excellent pre-professional major, looked on with favor by admissions
officers at institutions such as Theological Seminaries and Law Schools. It
is also a good preparation for a career in writing, perhaps combined with a
minor in mass communications. Finally, it is one of the more flexible
general education programs for those without a specific career goal. |

Must I major in Pre-Law to go to Law School?
No. Law schools require only a bachelor’s degree from an accredited
college or university, a good GPA, and a good score on the Law School
Admissions Test (LSAT). English, Philosophy, Communications, and Business
are also good Pre-Law majors. However, the TFC Pre-Law major does give you
a selection of courses that will prepare you well for the kind of work you
will do in law school as well as a good background in those areas of society
in which the law is often applied. |

What is the difference between the Biology Major and the Pre-Med program?
Medical schools do not require a specific major, just a certain
number of science and math courses and a good GPA. The simplest way to
prepare for medical school (or pharmacy, veterinary, or dental school) is
with the TFC Biology major. However, the Pre-Med Program allows you to
prepare for medical school using a different major. Also, the Biology Major
has other uses, such as preparation for graduate study in biology. |
