Pastoral Ministries Major
Christian Education Department
Pastoral Ministries provides the student with academic preparation as necessary infrastructure for ministry along with professional preparation for ministerial effectiveness in the areas of homiletics, interpersonal relationships, pastoral and evangelistic functions, leadership, and church administration.
The major learning goals for this major include understanding the relationship of a biblical text to the sermon, developing skills in constructing and presenting expository sermons, understanding the various roles of the office of pastor and the corresponding various expectations of the local congregation, and developing a clearer understanding of and commitment to one’s own personal call and preparation through development of spiritual character and maturity. An internship in the senior year provides hands-on experience under a formal mentor as the student prepares to candidate in churches or to go on to seminary for further preparation.
** Please note: This program description is for students entering Toccoa Falls College in the 2012-2013 catalog year.
