We will prepare you to teach choral and instrumental groups. You will also learn to instruct, manage and inspire music students in elementary general music classes, middle school, high school and beyond. You’ll also learn how to play and teach instruments you’ve never even touched prior to your time at TFC.

As a music education major, you’ll take a variety of courses such as music theory, music history, music technology, conducting and many other interesting and important classes. Music has been an important part of the curriculum since Toccoa Falls College was founded over 100 years ago.  Our music education graduates are teaching successfully in many different states and foreign countries!

You as a Music Teacher!

Your Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education will prepare you for a career as a music teacher for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Many who graduate with this degree find it rewarding to build their careers around sharing their faith and their enjoyment of music in Christian schools in the United States and overseas. Many others share their enjoyment of music with students in public schools all over the country. Imagine using your musical skills each day to inspire your students to explore their potential!

According to the U.S. Department of Labor job openings for school teachers is expected to grow nationally by 12 percent between 2006 and 2016.  This is expected to create 479,000 additional teaching positions nationally.  At TFC there are many opportunities to student teach in music locally and overseas.  After graduation, you can look forward to seeking music teaching employment anywhere in the United States or overseas in various types of public and private schools.

The Music Education Program leads to certification in music with emphasis on choral or instrumental in grades K-12. This program offers many opportunities for practice and training, while gaining experiences and knowledge to create appropriate and motivational programs of music at all levels.
