Toccoa Falls is located in the foothills of the northeast Georgia mountains on the campus of Toccoa Falls College, a four-year, regionally and nationally accredited Christian college. The falls are two miles north of the city of Toccoa, 95 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia, and 65 miles south of Greenville, S.C.
The falls stand 186 feet – six feel higher than Niagara. The stream that flows from the base of the falls runs through the lower portion of the college’s 1,100 wooded acre campus. Toccoa Falls is known to be one of the highest free-falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi River and attracts guests from all over the nation. A scenic path leads visitors to the back of a natural gorge area where the falls are located.
Toccoa Falls is open year round and a nominal fee is charged. Visitors enter through Toccoa Falls Books & Gifts located in Gate Cottage. The shop carries a variety of souvenirs, post cards, clothing, and much more. Please check http://www.tfc.edu/store for hours.
Gate Cottage Restaurant overlooks Toccoa Creek and is open to the public for Sunday buffet during lunch. It also caters civic clubs and organizations, luncheons, wedding rehearsals and receptions, and other special events. Tour groups may make reservations.
