The Toccoa Falls College athletic department is proud to announce the signing of 9 baseball student athletes for the 2007-2008 year.  This year’s signing class includes 2 catchers, 2 infielders, 1 outfielder, 3 pitchers, and 1 utility player.  Coach Pollock says, "With this class we feel like we did a good job of finding kids who not only are great ball players but are also great people.  As with any recruiting class our goal was to fill needs.  We have a good core of returning players but there are areas we needed to improve if we are going to achieve our goal of an NCCAA National Championship.  Going in we felt we definitely needed to add some power bats, pitching depth, and to improve the catching position, and I feel like with the guys we have signed we have done that."

    2007-2008 Signees

Clae Mathis is a 1B from Taylor County High School in Butler, GA.  He was an All Region pick in 2005 and 2006 and was named 2nd team All Region in 2007. He was also named to the Macon Telegraph All Middle Georgia 2nd Team in '07. As a junior he hit .454 with 7 HR and 35 RBI.  As a senior he hit .406 with 2 HR and 39 RBI.  "Clae is a big, strong kid who should contribute as a freshman.  He is a high character kid and I anticipate him bringing a good attitude and a willingness to work hard to practice everyday."

Kenny Waddell is an outfielder from Taylor County High School in Butler, GA. His senior year he was named to the All Region team and was also named 1st Team All Middle Georgia by the Macon Telegraph.  In 2007 Kenny hit .443 with 2 HR, 25 RBI, and 17 SB.  "Kenny is a strong kid with good speed who really came into his own during his senior year.  He brings a lot to the table offensively and we look for great things out of him."

Nick Southern is a second basemen from Paulding County High School in Dallas, GA.  In 2007 he hit .317 with 11 doubles, 21 RBI and 17 SB.  He was named best defensive player in 2006 for PCHS.  "We are excited about addition of Nick to our program.  We were inconsistent at 2B in 2007 and I feel Nick has the ability to come in and help stabilize that position."

Stephen Ramsey is a pitcher from Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, GA. In 2007 he was 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA with 27 K's in 23 innings.  "We are excited about what Stephen brings to the table.  He has four quality pitches, he throws strikes, and he is a competitor.  Coming from Providence we know he has been coached well, and we feel he will definately help us as a freshman."

Philip Pendergrass is a pitcher from Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, GA.  In his senior year he was 3-2 with 2 saves, 39 K's, and a 2.32 ERA.  He was named 2nd Team All Region in 2007.  Philip is a kid who we are really excited about.  He has a good frame and a good feel for pitching. I feel like if he can come in and continue to improve he has a chance to crack the weekend or midweek rotation as a freshman.

Zach Kles is a catcher from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, GA.  In 2007 he was name to the All Region team as well as being selected to the Athens Herald All Northeast Georgia Team and the Gainesville Times All Area Team.  In his senior season Zach hit .333 with 11 doubles, 9 HR, and 46 RBI.  "Zach was the starting catcher and cleanup hitter for Jefferson's final four team in 2007.  He is steady defensively and has very good power at the plate. We think he is good enough to hit somewhere in the middle of our order as a freshman."

Taylor McDaniel is a LHP/OF from Social Circle High School in Monroe, GA.  In 2007 Taylor was 5-3 on the mound with a 4.24 ERA and 33 K's in 32 innings.  He also hit .405 with 1 HR with 12 RBI and 12 SB.  He was named honorable mention All Region in 2007.  "Taylor brings another quality left arm to our pitching staff.  He was a 2 way player at SCHS, but we see him primarily as a pitcher for us.  We look for him to log some valuable innings out of the bullpen in 2008."

Adam Reynolds is a catcher from Cramerton Christian Academy in Gastonia, NC. He capped a great high school career in 2007 by leading his team to a NCISAA state championship.  In 2007 he was named to the NCISAA All State team as well as being named to the Gaston Gazette 1st Team.  In his senior year he hit .643 with 5 HR and 31 RBI. He was also 7-0 as a pitcher with a 0.89 ERA. "Adam comes to TFC after a terrific career at CCA. His offensive number speak for themselves, but I think he may be even better defensively.  He was named best defensive player at Clemson Baseball Camp in 2006.  We look for Adam to come in and contribute from day one."

Josh Jordan is an outfielder/catcher from Northside Christian School in St. Petersburg, FL.  In 2007 Josh hit .310 for the Mustangs. "Josh is a kid who will bring some versatility to our roster.  We are always looking for guys who can play more than one position, and Josh fits the bill.  Josh is a high character kid and we are excited about the addition of him to our program.
